Radice

Oak, rusted steel

32cm x 32cm x 70cm

I designed Radice just after a trip to France where I went to see 'La Machine' from Nantes that did an exhibition in Calais. I was really impressed by their work. I started thinking about this stool when I was there, starting to sketch it on my notebook and, as soon as i could reach my studio, I began to build it. 'La Machine' is often inspired by Art-Nouveau, which I really love. The three sides of the structure of this stool resemble branches or roots and they all look alike. Together they give a very harmonic and nature-like look to the stool. The oak seat is a leftover I've found in the woodshop that fits perfectly with the iron structure.
